What Is MyCiti?
MyCiti is Cape Town's bus rapid transit (BRT) system, launched in 2010. It connects the CBD, Atlantic Seaboard, Table View, Milnerton, Khayelitsha, and Mitchells Plain with dedicated bus lanes and modern stations.
The myconnect Card
You need a myconnect card to ride. Cards cost R35 (for the card itself) and can be loaded with credit at stations, selected retailers, or online. Tap on and tap off at station readers.
Key Routes
- T01 — Civic Centre to Table View (via the N1 expressway)
- A01 — Civic Centre to Sea Point / Hout Bay
- D01/D02 — Civic Centre to Gardens / Tamboerskloof
- 104 — Sea Point to Cape Town CBD (useful for Atlantic Seaboard residents)
Fares
A single trip within the city centre typically costs R10–R12. A monthly pass costs R840 for unlimited travel across the network. There are discounted fares for scholars and pensioners.
Frequency & Hours
Most trunk routes run every 10–15 minutes during peak hours and every 20–30 minutes off-peak. Service generally runs from approximately 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with reduced frequency on weekends.
Tips
- Download the MyCiti app for live schedules and route planning
- Keep a small balance on your card — you can't ride with insufficient credit
- Buses are air-conditioned and generally safe and clean
